The Chairman and CEO/Secretary General of AUSC Region 5 were invited by the Ministry of sport, youth and National Service of Namibia to participate in a meeting today (Wednesday 6 June 2018) in Windhoek Namibia.  The main agenda of the meeting was to discuss in a consultative forum, the proposed Sports Act.  The draft Bill which is currently a working document, is proposed to provide for the establishment of the Namibia Sports Commission, Olympic and Paralympic Committee. This would be a new entity which is proposed to amalgamate the current Namibia Sports Commission and the Namibia National Olympic Committee, organisations currently operating as separate entities.  The meeting was therefore a consultative and knowledge sharing platform on the feasibility and finalisation of establishment of Namibia Sports Commission, Olympic and Paralympic committee among other provisions.

The meeting was being attended by the Minister of Sports, Youth and National Services honourable Erastus Uutoni and his Deputy honourable Agnes Tjongarero including other Senior government officials, National Olympic Committee and other Namibian Sports Federations.  The AUSC Region 5 was represented by its Chairperson Dr Veii and AUSC Region 5 CEO / Secretary General Mr Stanley Mutoya while COSANOC was represented by its President Mr Negroes Kgosietsile.  No doubt, these delegates were all bringing experiences and information from their respective backgrounds that will greatly help on the task to be undertaken. The outcomes of this and other consultative sessions should provide Namibia with wholesome information that will enable them to take the correct decision on the way forward.
