The AUSC Region 5 learnt with shock and profound sadness, of the untimely passing on of the football supporters following a stadium stampede.  It is indeed sad to have such accidents especially during competitions, more so when they rob us of people that are so dear to us in sport.  The entire Region is deeply saddened by this painful incident and is committed to stand by our Angolan brothers and sisters in mourning the lives of the departed while consoling the bereaved families.  We also wish for a speedy recovery to all those who sustained injuries during the accident and give our resolute and solemn prayers for their quick recovery and restoration to good health.

We convey our deepest and heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of the Republic of Angola, the families of the deceased and injured as well as the entire Angolans sporting fraternity at large.  May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace and best wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.
