As the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games begin, AUSC Region 5 wishes to congratulate all countries participating in the Games. The Region is being represented by 9 out 10 Member Countries whose athletes will compete in numerous sporting events for the next 2 weeks. Our Region is proud of the achievements our athletes have scored through hard work and determination to make it into their respective teams representing their countries at the Games. We are highly optimistic that the long hours of training will result in podium performance and winning of medals by our beloved athletes.

AUSC Region 5 is particularly proud to have contributed to the successful and illustrious careers of some of the athletes competing in the 2022 Commonwealth Games. A good number of these athletes have participated in the Region 5 Youth Games which they have used as a launchpad to international stardom.

As we remember our Commonwealth medallists like Hon. Dr. Kirsty Coventry of Zimbabwe, Nigel Amos of Botswana, Frank Fredricks of Namibia, Samuel Matete of Zambia, Caster Semenya of South Africa, Maria Mutola of Mozambique and several others, we urge the young athletes to emulate and receive the baton from these heroes and heroines that have made the Region great and attain recognition for its sporting prowess.

On behalf of the Region, I wish you good luck and Godspeed!
