Zimbabwe claimed a record fifth COSAFA Castle Cup with a deserved 3-1 victory over Zambia in the final played at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in South Africa’s North West province. Success for Zimbabwe continued the unbeaten record of veteran coach Sunday Chidzambwa in the tournament.
Zimbabwe have been the best team in the tournament, playing six matches in 14 days and scoring an impressive 19 goals in the process. The 19 goals were enough for Zimbabwe to lift the cup as the champions of 2017 CASAFA Castle Cup. He has won it three times now after previous success in 2003 and 2009
Knox Mutizwa was named player of the tournament while Zimbabwe captain Ovidy Kararu won the golden boot for his six goal contribution.
This Regional Competition has grown from humble beginnings today, it has become a household brand in the continental football.
